Broncos to win just because i picked them at the start of the year. Done!!
Well while I hope that happens that isn’t my whole preview. I am salivating at the thought of this match, I have a feeling this will be one of if not the best game of the year. Let’s take a look back to round 6 when they first met this year.
It was a cracker of a match, it had everything. The big boys Warea Hargreaves and Thaiday were going at it, there were big hits, RTS and Milford were dancing all over the field. If you can’t remember that far back this match went into golden point after both teams had a few shots at field goals and all come up shockers besides Maloney’s which hit the crossbar. Then as the game went into extra time Ben Hunt comes down the blind side chips over the top and it goes out on the full, but the thing I love about Ben Hunt and what I think is one of the best signs of his maturity is how he put it behind him and kept having a dig until he eventually threw a show and go beating Malony then throwing a dummy to go past RTS to win the game. The Broncos and the Roosters were without some big players the Broncos had Maranta at fullback with Boyd out and Hodges was also out, while Roosters were missing Ferguson and Hastings had yet to get a run. Both teams were evenly matched here and it came down to some individual brilliance to get the Broncos over the line.
Now to Round 24 another great game this is the game that saw Pearce and Hargreaves injured. Roosters got the upper hand here getting home 12-10 however it should be noted that they missed a few opportunities early on that could’ve seen them in front by a lot more.
So who wins Friday night that’s the question we all want the answer too. I think we will all be looking forward to another close encounter and I don’t see the scores being separated by more than 6 points. Roosters will miss Warea-Hargreaves but the two young Roosters props have been stepping up in Napa and Evans, both have a ton of confidence and aggression and they will need all of it when they go up against Thaiday and Blair, which ever team’s forward pack can get the upper hand will more than likely win the game with the outside backs fairly evenly matched.
Ben Hunt and Anthony Milford have come on in leaps and bounds since the start of the year and there kicking game and pass selection will need to be top notch now that the Roosters get Pearce back. James Maloney has been guilty of getting a little lost without Pearce out there so his return should bring the Roosters on.
Justin Hodges and Michael Jennings go head to head again in Hodges last ever game at Suncorp Stadium, Hodgo has been great for the Broncos, QLD and Australia throughout his career so it would be good to see him sent out a winner here but Michael Jennings will be doing all he can to stop that. Hodges strength is in his footwork and fend, the Roosters outside backs will need to be at their best defensively with Hodges ability to beat the first and offload for his winger at it’s peak, he has 14 Try Assist this year only two less than Mitchell Pearce and the same amount as both Bronco’s Halve.
I have a feeling playing at Suncorp Stadium and with the week off the Broncos will be able to edge out the Roosters in a close game where I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go to Golden Point.
In terms of a betting proposition I won’t be having a serious bet on this game, this will we be one to sit back and enjoy however a few small bets should be on if we can find value.
So I suggest a $50 deposit into $200 credit with Madbookie and use this on your favourite players for first try scorers.
