Cannot wait for this race! Press Statement heading down from Sydney, the flying Tulsa the tough Dal Cielo, Ready for Victory with blinkers first time and Bon Aurum winner of the prelude. What a race!!

Here’s my preview of the main chances :

Press Statement – Comes down from Sydney after a devastating win in the Stan Fox before that was luckless in the Golden Rose and also has strong Exosphere form lines a horse who is potentially a top liner. Press Statement is the horse to beat however I would have liked him to draw closer but if any jockey can overcome that it is Hush Bowman, he’s in world class form. Won the J.J Atkins over the mile so you know he will get the distance, his chances come down to where he settles in the running.I think they will go back thinking there will be a lot of tempo in this race, he is something special so in with a good chance. I’m hoping his price drifts a little I personally don’t want to be on any number under $3.

Ready For Victory – Did not travel well at all in the prelude. Didn’t jump got back and managed to do OK in the straight. Blinkers On first time should smarten him up and the fact he’s drawn barrier 4 gives Glenn Boss more choice in running. I am not a big fan of Glenn Boss but credit where credit’s due he has ridden some good big race rides lately. Think Ready For Victory has a lot of potential if he can put it all together, rate him around a $10 chance.

Dal Cielo – Such a tough run by the Kiwi in the Prelude. Lead the whole way on a hot speed. Held on for third in a run on race holds this guy in good stead. Drawing barrier 8 instead of barrier 2 is heaven sent. Bosson will know be able to get a sit instead of having to lead. The horse has been solid in the market and for good reason, I have him in my top 3 picks. The $9 on offer is definitely worth a nibble.

Bon Aurum – had the run of the race in the prelude. Sitting worse than midfield Mcevoy put him in the right spot and made his run at the perfect time. Coming into the Guineas and expected to peak 7th up probably isn’t ideal but Ciaron Maher is good with placing his horses. He gave Tulsa two lengths near the top of the straight and stepping out to a mile I can’t see him holding Tulsa off, $14 is a decent enough price for the each way punter tho.

Lizard Island – My best Roughie in this race. Absolutely spanked them last start even thought it was only at Pakenham was over the mile so you know he will get there, before that run a close second to Bon Aurum in the Exford Plate. Blake Shinn is riding well I’ll have a tiny go at him with the $26 on offer.

Tulsa – Here is my pick for this race. He has flew home his last two starts. If the prelude was 10m longer he wins. He will absolutely relish the mile, the wide barrier is perfect from him. Hopefully they don’t go to far forward on Press Statement and Tulsa can take a trail behind him. Coming into the straight he can follow the second best horse into the race and I think his turn of foot will be too good. The $3.70 the place is better then Press Statements win price! Tulsa to place is my bet of the month!!! I’ll be all over him to win as well!!

1st Tulsa

2nd Press Statement

3rd Dal Cielo

4th Lizard Island
