The Hayes and Dabernig training partner ship had 4 runners nominated for both the Randwick and Australian Guineas, why is this? well because the lack of a national governing body for racing constantly leads to VIC and NSW racing trying to up one each other, but enough of that farce for now.
Risque and Sovereign Nation will stay in Melbourne for the Australian Guineas while Stay With Me will head to Sydney for the Randwick Guineas. Sacred Eye will not race this weekend and be kept for the Saturday after
“Luke Currie will ride Sovereign Nation and Damian Lane will be on Risque,” Rayan Moore, who handles acceptances and jockey bookings for the trainers, said.
“At this stage Sacred Eye will be waited with for a race at Flemington on the 12th.”
Risque came to Australia after winning the Group 1 1000 Guineas in New Zealand, she started in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes at $3.60 and duly saluted. There trainers have huge wraps on this filly and she should run well on Saturday. Sovereign Nation was a fast finishing third in the Croup 3 CS Hayes behind Taveci and Palentino and looks well suited to the step up to the mile.
Stay With Me won the Australian Group 1 1000 Guineas in the spring and hasn’t really had races run to suit since resuming, I wouldn’t be potting her just yet.
