Lightly raced but talented 4yo Supido is now set to skip the Newmarket with trainer Mick Kent deciding to go to a listed race on at Moonee Valley next week.
Supido was was handicapped to recieve 52kg, 6kg off Chautauqua and 4.5kg off of Terravista. After only having 6 starts Mick Kent has opted to go with the easier option. Joe Pride the trainer of Terravista has been delighted at the news as he wants as few runners as possible in the Handicap Race with the idea it will better suit Terravista’s style of racing.
“The faster they go, the better it is for Chautauqua,” Pride said.
“I think Terravista has a better burst of acceleration than Chautauqua, it is just that he can sustain it for a bit longer.
“Terravista’s is short and sharp and tactically if they go slower, it should help us.”
After Joe Pride’s public hissy fit about Oli dropping the whip Hugh Bowman gets back aboard Terravista.
Chris Waller who trained last year’s Newmarket Handicap Winner Brazen Beau will enter Delection (56kgs) and Japonisme (52.5kg). Japonisme was impressive down the straight in the Oakleigh and will be a live shot with the low weight.
Chautauqua heads the betting at $2.20 with Japonisme $4.20 and Terravista $5.
